My Best Freind

My best friend is a little bit different from most peoples’ as in he’s not a person. His name is Timmy. Yes, he’s a dog and he’s a big part of my life so it would be crazy not to include him in my blog.

I’ve found that when people see dogs they don’t have the ability to talk like a normal person. Everyone seems to have a certain voice that their brain tells them they have to use as long as there’s a dog within ten feet of them. As this happens there is a series of questions people ask so I thought I’d start out by answering those.

Q: How old is she!?

A: 2 1/2 (human) years old and he’s a boy.

Q: Is he trained?

A: Yes he went threw a years worth of training

Q: Roll over! Why isn’t he rolling?

A: He doesn’t really know how to do that.

Q: What breed is he?

A: He is a Golden Retriever with a bit of lab in him.

How I got him

Like every child that ever existed I used to bug my parents about getting a puppy. As I look back I realize that I was one of the most annoying little girls and I feel sorry for anyone who was within a mile of little Lucy but after dealing with me for years my parents caved in and got me Timmy as a Christmas present. It was kind of sad because the people who we were buying him from lived quite a long ways away and they didn’t want him to pee or poop in their car. Their solution to that problem was quite cruel and they didn’t feed or water him. Timmy was very skinny and dehydrated and now he is not fat but just a little, y’know, fluffy.

One of Timmy’s favorite things to do is play with the frisbee. He is quite the, as the hip teens would say, “boss”at the frisbee. It is so fun to see him jump up and catch it some four, five feet in the air. Fun fact! We almost named him Frisbee!

Is he a dog though?

I’m convinced that Timmy’s convinced that he isn’t a dog. He does this thing we like to call ‘talking’. If you’ve ever seen that video of the husky saying “I love you” to it’s owner, that’s kind of how it sounds. When we put the other dogs out he just lays down like ” I’ll be chillin’ over he while you put those dogs out.”. Another thing he does is he sort of sits like a human too. Although we don’t let the dogs on the couch he decided “Nope, I’m going to sit up here with you guys”. He sits, his back straight, right next to us as if he was watching t.v. too.

Hair Care

I’ve been growing out my hair recently so I thought I’d share what I’ve found helped my hair grow and be healthy.

Wet brush

I mentioned this in my 2015 April Favorites post. This helps keep your hair from pulling out if you have a problem with that. I really recommend this because its amazing! You don’t even have to use it on just wet hair, I know it’s kind of breaking the rules and defeats the whole purpose but you do you!

Trimming your hair about every two months keeps your hair healthy so that it can grow. I know when you go and their saying you have to cut an inch off  its frustrating and your like ‘I worked hard to grow that!’ but you really need to cut off those dead ends to make it healthy enough to keep growing. If you continue to go about every two months you’ll only have to cut off about half an inch which isn’t that much considering how much your hair has grown in those two months.

Shampoo and Conditioner

The shampoo and conditioner I’ve found helped my hair grow the most is the Main n’ tail shampoo and conditioner. Although right now I’m not using it that’s just because I think in order for it to take full effect I should take a break but this  has helped my hair get thicker and grow faster

Cold Rinse

In the shower most people, including me, like to have hot water. Heat really isn’t that good for your hair so I’d recommend, when your done taking a shower, rinse your hair in cold water. You don’t have to do full on freezing water but pretty cold and just rinse your hair in it. This also helps you actually get out of the shower because when your running hot water it’ easy to stay in there forever so save water!

No heat

Like I said heat isn’t very good for your hair so if you really want to grow out your hair you should go heat free for a while. That means no hair curlers, no flat irons, and no hair dryers. If you’re reading this and saying ‘there is no way I’m going outside my house without using one of those’ then make sure to use heat protectant  spray! If you want to straighten it straighten it using a blow dryer! They are much less harsh on your hair than putting your hair in between  400 degree steel rods!

Putting your hair in a ponytail to much will break your hair, when you put your hair in  braid it’s not as tight on your hair. It also keeps your hair a little safer from the outside elements.

Drink lots of water!

This is something I could definitely improve on! Water helps your body lush out toxins better which will help your hair grow faster and make it stronger. Drinking lots of water will just make you more healthy in general. It will hydrate your skin and your hair so drinking water is always amazing for you!IMG_1497

I hope those tips help you out and I will see you soon!

Hair Care

I, as I,ve mentioned in my March favorites, have been growing out my hair so I thought I’d buy a wet brush. It is amazing!  It helps not pull out hair when you brush it, and I have to say I didn’t expect it to work very well and now I use it, not only on my wet hair but when my hair is dry too just because its so much better than my other brushes.

So I’ve been making the difficult conversion to only wash my hair every other day so that the essential oils stay in my hair which means sometimes my hair gets really oily. To fix that problem I’ve been using Kenra Platinum Dry Shampoo. My hair dresser recommended it to me and I love it! All I do is spray it close to the roots of where its most greasy and just sort of massage it into my head and it just takes the oil right out!

Its been getting warmer so I’ve done some summer shopping which has lead to many favorites.

First off I got some flip flops from old navy, they’re just plain red but that’s what I love about them! They just add a little pop of color which I love in any situation. I think it would especially look good if your wearing red lipstick to match your flip flops! They were on sale for 2 for 5 which surprised me because they’re actually really good quality!

So I also got from old navy a pair of shorts, which I love! They’re 100% cotton which means they’re incredibly confy! I just really like that style of shorts and think they’ll be great over the summer!

Okay so I promise I don’t buy a pair of sunglasses every month! I just happen to have last month and this month! So I bought a pair of sunglasses and I really like them! Most sunglasses are to big for my face and these aren’t way to big. They are a little big but not too noticeable. So they’re rimless at the bottom with a white subtle cat eye frame at the top which I love!

I have really sensitive skin so it was tough to find a good cleanser and moisturizer but I finally found a pair that work fantastically together. So these are both drugstore products so there not very expensive and I’ve found great results! The cleanser is the equate beauty gentle skin cleanser. I put this on my skin at the end of the day every day and it does a really good job at  getting all the dirt and things out of my pores (gross I know) and keeping my skin clear.  The moisturizer I use is the Walgreens fragrance free moisture lotion which I couldn’t find online so sorry about that but you could probably just buy it in your local Walgreens because it’s their brand. This is the best moisturizer I’ve ever used. Like I said, I have really sensitive skin and it doesn’t irritate my skin at all and its really moisturizing! Both of these come in huge containers so it will last me almost a year!

The Purse essentials nail polish remover pads really are purse essentials! They are exactly what they sound like pads that remove your nail polish, this probably isn’t a new thing for you but I’ve always used cotton balls and a bottle of nail polish  remover to remove my nail polish so when I saw this I was like “Nail polish remover in pads! Genius!” One pad removes all of my nail polish on both hands and I’m just amazed.

As you saw in my last post, Little things that make you happy, I recently bought 1,033 reasons to smile. I just thought ‘how can I not put it in my favorites’ so that’s what I did!

I’m a little bit (Pronounced: a lot bit) of a nerd when it comes to musical theater. As in I know every lyric to every song in Wicked… I like to listen to the broadway soundtrack of musicals on spotify and this month I discovered Hairspray was on spotify so naturally I have been listening to it 24/7!

That’s it for my 2015 April favorites and I hope you enjoyed!
