Eating Gluten Free

This post is a bit different and requires a lot longer words than I would usually use (You won’t see me winning any speling bees.) But I’ll go ahead and get into it.  I was diagnosed with Celiac disease (gluten intolerance) about a year and a half ago and its a constant learning process. I thought I’d wright a blog post about my experience.


What is it like? At first it’s very hard to resist the temptations but after a while you slowly get better and eventually you don’t think about it. You start noticing how much people actually eat. Just think about it. Was your day breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner. Or was it more breakfast, snack, snack, snack, snack, and then lunch? You definitely  notice your eating healthier too, but not only are you eating healthier, personally I have found I’m more interested in a healthier diet and life style . (there’s definitely a difference between doing and interested in doing!)

What is Gluten?  A lot of people ask me what Gluten actually is. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, barley and triticale. Gluten is obviously in things like bread, cookies, and cake but you’d be surprised at what else has gluten.You know how when your really bored and you start reading the ingredients on what your eating? Then there’s just a bunch of acids and gums and your just like “what the heck is this stuff!” A lot of those things contain gluten as well as many other gross things like red seaweed. So know whats in it before you eat it!

If you have a food tolerance then they have you covered because they have an option where you can look at only Gluten-Free products or only Dairy-Free products ect. Tips for people starting on a Gluten-Free diet. This is what I have learned over the time I’ve been Gluten-free.

#1 Plan ahead! If your going to spend a day out know where your going to eat and what your eating

#2 Use the Shop Well app! This is tip is great for anyone who is on any type of diet or just wants to be healthier in general. What you do is once you get the (free) app just enter your age group and if your trying to not eat something (or less of something ex. Calories) Then while your shopping you can scan the bar code on the item you want to buy and it will tell you if it’s recommended  or not.

#3 Cook all the time. Whether you like it or not it’s always just easier to make it yourself. There’s tons of delicious gluten free recipes out there.IMG_0839 IMG_0844Being on a diet is hard and no matter what anyone says they have “cheated” before.

Why I started this blog. Now its time for me to roll up my sleeves to my hedgehog onesie,yes a hedgehog onesie, and get to writing. This may end up being a quite lengthy post  but bear with me! I’d love to hear feedback or “constructive criticism” from anyone who’d take the time to write it. This blog is going to be about fashion, beauty, food, DIY’s, photography, ect. I plan to write about whatever I want to share, get out there , or even just an outlet for my photos (Figurative Language already! Guys I’m with it.) The reason I’m starting this blog is well… because I want to. Yep, that’s it. No cool ,interesting story about my ansesters or how i grew up on a farm without wifi… nope i just really wanted to.

Considering I’m starting a blog that’s probably something I’m going to have to better myself at. Speaking of something I have to better myself at, photography, I recently bought my first camera and I’m  absolutely loving it so far! I love taking pictures of cars, buildings, anything really! My dad’s friend has be teaching me so that’s been great! Another thing I really love is acting! I love creating characters and bringing the audience to Oz or Wonderland! I have an audition for an Into the Woods play next Sunday so wish me luck!
